Who We Are
Clever Cloggs Childcare first opened its doors at the Berwick Rd nursery in September 2007, Chloe Herron (Managing Director) has over 30 years’ experience working in a variety of settings both in the public and private sector and is passionate about enabling the staff team to provide high quality childcare, where children receive the best possible start in life.
Since opening 6 out of the 7 original team members remain employed. We are a family run nursery with emphasis on a home from home feel. The nursery is spacious with an extensive outside area for all children. We cater for no more than 52 children per day: enabling us to know all families on a personal level.
We continuously ask ‘Would this be good enough for my child?’ we aim to ensure that every family has a positive experience and as such believe that two way communication is vital. All parents are given an out of hours number to use should they have an issue which needs immediate attention.
In order for the children to feel secure in their setting we aim to promote a positive partnership with parents.
Since opening we have used the same key worker system which we have found to be very effective in strengthening the bonds between staff and children. On beginning the settling period your child will be allocated a key worker, if however once your child has settled into nursery they develop a stronger bond with another member of staff (in effect choose their own key worker whilst taking into account time constraints and individual needs) their key worker will be changed . You will be provided with a settling report, usually between 6- 12 weeks after joining, depending on how many days the child attends.
The staff team are from a wide spectrum of settings and all bring different knowledge and experience to Clever Cloggs; they have over 100 years of experience between. Clever Cloggs actively encourages the staff to continue their personal professional development.
Since opening, seven members of staff have achieved their NVQ level 3 in Childcare and Education, seven members of staff have achieved their level 4 in Childcare and Education. We also have one member of staff working towards a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies and one has completed a BA Hons in Education and Child Development and is continuing his studies by completing a MSc. As well as a host of different qualifications.
Staff become part of a family, we have a strong emphasis on parent/staff relationships, a friends of Clever Cloggs meeting is held three times per year, it is an opportunity for parents to meet each other informally and get to know the families of their children’s peers. As well as organising social get togethers such as Graduation Day, Beach days etc parents are encouraged to foster their own social outings which staff attend. Friends of Clever Cloggs meetings are an opportunity for staff to meet informally to enhance and forge positive relationships and to discuss the day to day operations of the nursery and how they impact on families. We also offer an email communication system where parents and staff share information to enhance each child’s learning journey.
